    Description

    3M Vetbond Tissue Adhesive
    Vetbond Tissue Adhesive by 3M
quickly bonds tissues together for veterinary procedures. On contact with body tissue, Vetbond adhesive changes from liquid to solid state by polymerizing within seconds to seal a wound. Contains a blue dye allowing it to be easily seen where applied. Tissue adhesive stops minor bleeding and binds wound edges, which may eliminate the need for suturing or bandaging in some cases. Vetbond also serves as a barrier against foreign material from entering the wound. The adhesive sloughs off as healing occurs. Each 3 ml bottle contains approximately 150 drops.
Vetbond adheres wound edges together so natural healing can occur
    Seals wounds with seconds
Recommended for dew claws, docking tails, minor lacerations and surgical procedures.
    Directions:
Vetbond Tissue Adhesive must be at room temperature before use. No not heat.
Remove bottle cap. To open, cut off bottle tip with scissors or blade. Place flexible applicator tip on bottle.
Vetbond adhesive may be used between stainless steel sutures or staples, but application on staples may interfere with staple removal.
When finished, remove excess adhesive in vial tip by holding bottle upright and gently squeeze single drop of adhesive out of tip onto a paper towel. Wipe bottle tip with the same paper towel. Replace bottle cap. Expel adhesive from applicator tip by pushing air through it from a standard syringe.
    Wound or Surgical Application:
Clip hair from wound or surgical site.
Disinfect area with antibacterial or surgical soap, rinse and dry.
Apply pre-operative prep like povidone-iodine preparations or chlorhexidine solution.
Allow the prep solution to completely dry prior to surgery.
After surgical procedure is complete, approximate the wound edges together.
Application site should be free of excess fluids for best adhesion and to avoid an excessive exothermic (heat generating) reaction.
Apply Vetbond Tissue Adhesive sparingly to the surface of the site to form a thin layer. Thick applications will crack and lift prematurely.
Avoid touch moist surfaces with applicator tip.
Do not apply Vetbond internally or below the epidermal layer.
    Declaw application:
Once surgical procedure in done on each claw, remove as much blood as possible from incision site by blotting.
Approximate the edges of the surgical site and sparingly apply Vetbond to cut surfaces of the skin using the plastic applicator tip provided. One drop for each digit should be sufficient. Do not allow Vetbond to drip into the cavity. Ay residual tissue adhesive below the closure site can cause foreign body reactions. Do not glue hair into site.
Hold skin edges together for 5-10 seconds.
After completing the procedure, check for bleeding and reapply a drop of adhesive to the skin edges if necessary. Bleeding will normally stop within 5-10 minutes. Sutures or dressings are usually not needed, but a pressure bandage may be applied if warranted.
