This item is a good alternative to the infamous e-collar.  I would recommend if your cat is having surgery, have your veterinarian place it on them.  They will be able to monitor, during the recovery time, and let you know how your cat is handling wearing the suit.  The suit works well with either male or female, should not interfere with bodily functions.  They can also eat and drink, without trying to eat around a cone.  And you don't have to chase them, to put it back on.
The suit is light weight and breathable. I have tried to find out what the material is.  I believe it is a combination of: Polyester, Nylon, and Polycotton.

for cats approximately 2.2-4.4 lbs
