Description

Coherent Genesis 532-1000-SM-MX-OPSL 532 nm Laser in excellent cosmetic and operating condition.  It outputs over 1 W (1,000 mW) at less than 70% of the pump diode current limit.  The beam quality is excellent - single spatial mode near TEM00 with a low M-Squared value.  It is SINGLE LONGITUDINAL MODE (SLM) / Single Frequency AT ALL POWER LEVELS from 25 mW to above 1 W.

This laser requires water cooling - a recirculating chiller is recommended (not included), though tap water should be acceptable.  It doesn't require much water flow but it must be present for continuous operation.  Substituting a large air-cooled heat sink should be possible but that is NOT included either and it requires more than just bolting a heatsink to the bottom of the laser - the cold plate must be removed and it's attached to a pair of giant TECs that must remain undisturbed.
The laser is currently set for 25 mW so the power will be close to eye-safe the first time it is turned on.  It may be turned on using the toggle switch attached to the interlock plug or by using the Coherent OPSL Windows software (included).  The power may be changed and stored as the default on power-up, and the pump diode current, and pump diode other temperatures may be monitored.  Note that unlike some other lasers, the selected power level ramps up or down almost instantly when changed.  There is a several second delay only when first turned on.
The power may also be controlled relative to the stored power level using an external voltage applied between a pair of wires that can be added to the Interlock plug.  The wiring is in the manual.
And so there will be no surprises, yes, the hours reading in the Status Windows is >29,000.  But lasers like this often idle at low power and only go to high power for a short time when doing an exposure or whatever.  Based on the pump diode current at maximum power versus the current limit, it is a very healthy laser.
But to be sure, a trim-pot has been added to fine tune the BRF temperature if needed in the future.  It should be set near optimally now.
Unlike many other similar lasers that may appear on eBay, this one is robust single frequency / single longitudinal mode.  Only when changing power may it go multimode momentarily, and usually only before it has been on for awhile.  However, it may come up such that the pump diode current is not the minimum, especially if it is set for low power.  So it recommended that it tuned off and on when set to the expected power, "burped" using the "Etalon Capture" button on the Control screen of the GUI or by turning it off and immediately back on using the toggle switch.
Included in the package are the laser head, controller, DC power pack, interlock connector with enable switch, short hoses with clamps, an auxiliary mounting plate, USB cable, and the the Genesis documentation and OPSL Windows software on a CDR.  The software is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, 7-11, and possibly earlier ones as well.  The buyer will need to provide the PC
, cooling, and
115/230 VAC power.  Returns accepted but I think the description should be close enough for government work. ;-)  And there will be a 15 percent retesting fee, sorry.
