Description
Coherent Genesis 532-1000-SM-MX-OPSL 532 nm Laser in excellent cosmetic and operating condition. It outputs over 1 W (1,000 mW) at less than 75% of the pump diode current limit. The beam quality is excellent - single spatial mode near TEM00 with a low M-Squared value. It is SINGLE LONGITUDINAL MODE (SLM) / Single Frequency AT ALL POWER LEVELS from 25 mW to above 1 W.The photos of the laser head and controller are the actual items in the listing; the photo of the DC power supply and interlock widget are typical.
This laser requires water cooling - a recirculating chiller is recommended (not included), though tap water should be acceptable. It doesn't require much water flow but it must be present for continuous operation. Substituting a large air-cooled heat sink should be possible but that is NOT included either.
The laser may be turned on and off via an external switch (included) and is currently set at ~25 mW as shown in the screen shots. The power may be increased or decreased by a voltage on the Analog input wires. But changing the stored digital power setting at which it comes up must be done via USB from a Windows PC. The required software will be included. Operation should be intuitive. The windows are shown in the montage photo when set at ~25 mW and ~1083 mW, which is the software power limit. The maximum pump current is 15 A, so it's way below that even at maximum power and less than 70% of it at 1 W.
An external trim-pot has been added to enable the BRF temperature to be tweaked to force SLM operation. It is set for operation from 500 mW to 1.1W but may need to be adjusted for lower power. Then, per the Coherent manual, the "Etalon Capture" command in the Command Window, also known as the "Burp" command ;-), is recommended to optimize parameters at higher power after warmup. What this does is to ramp the power down to 0 and back up again to recenter the lasing mode on the gain curve which should result in the pump current declining slightly. Almost the same effect can be achieved by applying a negative voltage to the Analog input, or by turning the enable switch off and on (though that takes slightly longer due to the built-in safety delay, so it isn't quite as effective).
And so there will be no surprises, yes, the hours reading in the Status Windows is 47074. But lasers like this often idle at low power and only go to high power for a short time when doing an exposure or whatever. Based on the pump diode current at maximum power versus the current limit, it is a very healthy laser.
Included in the package are the laser head, semi-adjustable mount (not shown), controller, DC power supply, interlock connector with enable switch and wires for an optional analog voltage, and the Windows software. Everything is pre-wired as shown in the pics The buyer will need to provide the PC (only if it is desired to change the default power or control power digitally)
, cooling, and
115/230 VAC power. There is a switch on the DC power supply to select the line voltage which will be set to 115 VAC - it is NOT auto-switching.
Returns accepted but I think the description should be close enough for government work. ;-)
Feel free to as many relevant questions as desired. ;-)
