Coherent Genesis MX (aka Taipan) laser model 577-3000. This in an OPSL (Optically Pumped Semiconductor Laser) that produces 577nm 'golden yellow' light which digital cameras are unable to properly render so the pictures look more green than yellow. This is a complete turnkey system including the laser head mounted to a TEC and fan cooled heatsink along with a Coherent OEM power supply / controller and all interconnect cables. It has
less than 72 hours
accumulated so it essentially unused. I'm including AC power and USB cables and a USB thumb drive with the users manual and Windows GUI software. The heatsink has mounting holes that fit inch-spacing optical breadboards.
The laser has an SMA fiber launch attached. It was used with 400um fiber, but could likely be aligned to work with a smaller core diameter, possibly as low as 50um with careful alignment. One picture shows the laser coupled into a short 400um fiber combiner. I don't have a suitable high-power fiber to go with this. The fiber launch could be removed for a free-space beam.
This unit is specified to produce 3 watts output. In testing here I measured over 4W raw output and about 3.7W when coupled to a 400um fiber. The pump diode current is 24.2A when set for full output. The maximum current is 35A so this is making better than rated output at about 69% of max. It's safe to assume this system will provide many thousands of hours of reliable operation.
