    Description

Vintage (early years 70'), pulsed xenon - filled, high energy, linear flashlamp to pump large Nd:glass or ruby laser rods, type VQX 1010 (E2), made by Verre et Quartz, France. The linear design assures the best pump efficiency in an elliptical pumping chamber, ideal for a large laser rod oscillator or amplifier. Discharge dimensions: 8 mm dia. x 100 mm length, ideally should match the laser rod size. Outside dimensions: diameter 10.5 mm, length (with electrodes) cca. 185 mm.
The lamp was used an estimated 10 % - 20 % of its lifetime number of pulses and, correspondingly, it is sold as used, and appropriately depreciated.
    Operating DC voltage V
    0
= 700 V - 1,900 V. Max. safe operating energy (for critically damped RLC circuit, 1,200 us (us = microsecond) pulse duration, and min. 25,000 - 30,000 pulses lifetime): E
    max
= 1.0 kJ. Typical explosion energy (for critically damped RLC circuit, 1,200 us pulse duration, and few pulses lifetime): E
    X
= 3.3 kJ. Typical operating regime: capacitor C = 1,000 uF (uF = microfarad); inductor L = 160 uH (uH = microhenry); nominal DC voltage in capacitor V
    0
    = 1,270 V; nominal stored energy E
    0
= 800 J; pulse duration 1,200 us; expected lifetime (no. of pulses) cca. 170,000. Max. ave. power in open air: 240 W; max. ave. power in forced air: 700 W; max. ave. power in water: 1,500 W. Typical trigger voltage: 17 kV - 22 kV.
