    This is a JDSU FCD (frequency converted diode) laser that produces 505nm instead of the more common 488nm. It is in very good condition, fully tested and guaranteed to arrive in working condition. This unit is configured to auto-start when powered up so it can be used without a computer. We're including an interlock plug that has a DB9 connector for an optional RS-232 connection to your computer. Commands sent over the RS-232 port can be used to turn the laser off and on, set the power level and monitor various temperatures. Note that the spectral width is not specified by the manufacturer and these typically do not run single frequency. A copy of the user's manual will be provided to the buyer on request.

    The FCD488 Laser is a continuous-wave, frequency-doubled solid-state laser operating at a wavelength of
    488
    505 nm. The laser delivers 20 mW in a very stable and low-noise beam from a compact package, especially designed for original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and system integration. The laser consists of a laser head with an integrated controller. The laser is powered by 5 V DC.
    In the laser head, blue light is created by a DFB stabilized laser diode and a frequency-doubling crystal. The crystal is temperature-stabilized by a controller driving a thermoelectric cooler for optimal laser power and noise. The controller also provides current to the pump diode, as well as monitoring and controlling the thermoelectric cooler which is integrated into its package. The blue power is controlled by adjusting the diode current with closed-loop feedback from an external photodiode. The laser is operated in constant power mode and can be controlled and monitored via either an RS232 interface or a Digital/Analog interface.

    We've tested this laser and find that it performs very well. It produces the rated 20mW output at a diode current of 570mA, well below the 850mA maximum.  The system shows <125 hours run time so is nearly unused. This listing includes everything you need to get started:
