    Description

    This is another Laser Nerd Laser. ;-)
    Lasos Nova50 532 nm Laser Head for PARTS or REPAIR.
    Originally, the controller never turned on the pump diode but everything else was normal.  The head was then partially disassembled and it was found that the pump diode is probably good.  When driven directly with an external laser diode driver, there is strong green output.  So something in the electronics is preventing it from turning on.  Or, perhaps this model requires an external signal to enable it.
    This Lasos Nova50 head is also unique is having a tilt adjustment via a hole in the side of the case for an optic
    outside
    the laser cavity but before the photodetector power sensor.  It may be a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) or something similar, function unknown.  Adjusting its angle while driving the pump diode results in a small but noticeable change in output power.
    This laser head has been partially disassembled as shown in one of the photos.  It is mostly back together now except that (1) pump and output alignment cannot be guaranteed - it may not be optimal and/or line up with the very small output aperture, (2) the main laser assembly is NOT secured to the baseplate, and (3) the photodetector wires are disconnected.  The only missing parts are believed to be 1 of 4 thermal spacers (easily reproduced) and the tiny screw that secures the cover (but a replacement is included).
    So consider this a nice challenge to analyze if nothing else!
