Original Van Halen Bass Guitar Player Mark Stone High School Yearbook Rock NRoll

$ 131.99

Availability: 58 in stock
  • Condition: Original Van Halen Bass Player Mark Stone's High School Yearbook with his Senior Picture in it. Mark Stone was one of the integral members of the band in it's very beginning, joining the Van Halen Brothers in 1972 when they were called Mammoth and when they first started using the Van Halen name, before Van Halen brought in Bassist Michael Anthony to replace him in 1974. The yearbook is in very good condition for it's age. It has writing in it from the friends of the student who once owned it, but not excessive or in a way that detracts from the quality of the yearbook. There aren't many of these yearbooks in existence, so this is a chance for the die-hard Van Halen fan to own a very unique piece of Van Halen's early history.

    Description

    This is the original yearbook with the senior picture of the late Mark Stone, the original bass player of Van Halen. Mark was an integral member of Van Halen from about 1970-1974 in their club and backyard party days when they were still called Mammoth, and even called Genesis before that (they didn’t know there was an English band of the same name at that time, as Genesis hadn’t broken big in the states yet), and was there after they changed their name to Van Halen, before bassist Michael Anthony joined the band. 4 years later, Van Halen came out with their Warner Bros. Debut album in 1978, and the rest is history.
    Edward Van Halen also attended the school at the same time, but the yearbook staff unfortunately concentrated on the Senior class and photographed and listed very little of the other classes (My guess is because it was a very big school with over 3,000 students) so I have not detected Eddie in the book anywhere.
    Photo 1 is Mark's Senior picture. Mark was in the band with the Van Halen Brothers during the time his Senior picture was taken. Photo 2 is with Mark on the left. Photo 3 is the same picture, but the whole band, probably around 1973-1974, 4 years before Van Halen released their debut album.
    The yearbook is in very good condition and was well kept overall. It has the usual autographs that you find in yearbooks, but not excessively so.
    This is a really great rare piece of Van Halen's early history that by now, nearly half a century later, there's probably less than 500 original yearbooks at most in the world.
