Pair of Snowcraft Bearpaw Snow Shoes w/ labels Norway Maine Circa 1932-1940s.
Fantastic decorative set of vintage Snowcraft Bearpaw Snow Shoes. Original rawhide weave. Original bindings and lacings. Untouched or added too. Wonderful decor for any cabin, outdoor lodge or any rustic life setting. Some of the weaving has long since departed ( however could be restored without much effort) Great conversation piece they really! look the part. Original labels on both ( see photos). Produced in Norway Maine. Snowcraft was founded in 1932 and closed the door permanently in the 1980’s. Snowshoes produced in Norway Maine we’re used by the Robert Peary and Admiral Byrd expeditions to the South Pole. Snowcraft supplied the US government during WWII and became the premier snowshoe producer in the world. The company produced many pieces of furniture during the later part of their history some of these items are extremely rare and valuable today. Dimensions are approximately 29.” Length. X. 14. 1/2” in width.
The shoes are in what Snowcraft designated as the bearpaw style. They do have the original bindings and lacings.
