Description
I have up for auction this rare pair of Vintage Ellingwood Snowshoes. Made by Ellingwood Turning Co. They measure54" 1/4 inch's long by 12" 7/8 inch's
wide. They are made of wood, Babiche, (( animal gut ) metal ( nails ). I am selling
these for my 83 year old friend and he say's his father had these for as long as he remembers. Those are his initials
hammered into the shoes. There is 1 small ding from a rock or tree no doubt in 1 shoe. I have taken many pics, close
up and left 2 pics. to be added in case someone needs a different pic. These could be used if you softened up or
replaced the bindings. But hanging on a wall they would be magnificent. There are no flaws in the webbing, just an
overlay here and there. They have an upturned toe. Ellingwood was making shoes in the late 1870"s then formed his
company in 1914. And built shoes to the 1930's. The web pattern is the same as what they called the # 60 model,
Oxford
but that
was only 48" inch's, they didn't build 56" inch. He may have made them special order. His Co. was the
Ellingwood Turning Co. of West Paris Maine. These shoes will be insured. If you have a ? or need a different pic. just
give a shout and Thanks for Looking
